Marriage Preparation
Couples interested in marriage should contact Deacon Jim Patera to set up an appointment to begin the process of preparation. 319-509-1210
After the initial meeting and required paper work, couples take the FOCCUS, a compatibility inventory, and then they are assigned to a sponsor couple for a series of meetings to review different areas that the team feels are important for the individual couple. All couples are also required to attend one of the Marriage Preparation Programs sponsored by the Archdiocese. (Other meetings or expectations are required depending on the individual situation.) Preperation and planning for the wedding day takes place after the couple have spent time devoted to the direct preperation for a life of marriage together.
